GDN Argentina starts selling products from textile cooperatives in the province of Buenos Aires.

Through a joint effort with the Secretariat of Popular Economy and the National Ministry of Social Development, the national retail company formalised a new agreement with textile cooperatives in the western area to sell basic garments from local suppliers at Hiper ChangoMâs and ChangoMâs branches.

Buenos Aires, September 29th, 2023.- Under the name “TraMâs. Prendas básicas, nacionales y de calidad” (Basic, national and quality clothing) GDN Argentina (operating company of Hiper ChangoMâs, ChangoMâs, Punto Mayorista and MasOnline formats), together with the Secretariat of Social Economy of the National Ministry of Social Development, began the commercialisation of products from textile cooperatives in the western zone of the Metropolitan Area, in order to facilitate access to the shelves that the retail chain has in the province. This initiative seeks to generate a commercial alliance and a commitment with Uniendo Redes, a textile cooperative of La Matanza dedicated to the manufacture of basic garments for adults and children, in the delivery of clothing such as: jersey shirts, pants, sweatshirts and sweaters, in accordance with the standards required by the chain. In addition, the cooperative will have the support of the commercial teams, seeking to improve its practices to facilitate the inclusion of small producers in the so-called modern channel. This initiative was introduced during a tour of Hiper ChangoMâs San Justo store (Av. Brig. Gral. Juan Manuel de Rosas 3900); and was attended by Emilio Pérsico, Secretary of Social Economy of the National Ministry of Social Development; Débora Giorgi, Secretary of Production of La Matanza and Cooperatives of the Province of Buenos Aires; Juan Pablo Quiroga, Institutional Relations director of GDN Argentina; Liliana Romero, Operation director of GDN Argentina, together with producers from the textile cooperatives of La Matanza. During ChangoMâs Morón branch tour, Juan Pablo Quiroga, Institutional Relations director of GDN Argentina expressed that “executing this agreement allows us to strengthen our commitment to social economies and the formal revaluation of the work done by hundreds of local entrepreneurs throughout the province, facilitating access to our shelves and offering our customers a variety of assortment, quality and even a price up to 35% cheaper on average.” GDN Argentina has been strengthening its work with local cooperatives. Indeed, in 2022 signed the agreement for the “De la Quinta a tu Mesa” (From the Orchard to Table) programme: a project that was born with the purpose of making visible the work of family economy producers, the diversification of the assortment in the branches that the retail chain has in the country and the importance of reaching customers with fresh, quality products at a lower price. Currently, there are already 7 branches that sell fruits and vegetables from local producers at a price up to 40% cheaper than the rest of the supermarket chains.
